Delicious Napa Valley Mexican Food By Nony Morgan Taco Acapulco is a gem of an authentic Mexican restaurant in the Napa Valley of northern California. In an area where high-priced restaurants are the norm, Taco Acapulco is a modest eatery serving delicious Mexican food at very reasonable prices. One of my favorite dishes is the Taco Especial con Pollo - kind of like a big open faced taco with chicken, beans, rice, cheese, lettuce, cilantro, tomato, guacamole, and sour cream. The pinto beans are cooked whole and not mashed into lardy slime like too many other places serve. Another favorite choice is the Super Vegetarian Quesadilla - a big plate-full of vegetables and cheese sandwiched between tortillas and cooked on the griddle. There's also a serve-yourself salsa and condiment bar with 3 types of hot sauce, spicy marinated veggies, and hot peppers. Don't expect a contrived ambiance. I think the building used to be one of the original Taco Bells. The restaurant is casual and clean with simple Mexican decor. Order at the counter and your meal will be delivered to your table. There are about eight tables inside and several more in the patio, though I never sit outside because of traffic noise. Many people call ahead for take-out.
